Tallahassee genealogical notebook, ca. 1930.

The collection contains a notebook entitled "Original Plot of Tallahassee with Numbered City Lots," compiled by William G. Dodd around 1930. The notebook contains a plat map of Tallahassee lots with a list of original property owners. Also included in the notebook are an alphabetical genealogical compilation of many of Tallahassee's early families listed on the plat and lists of intendants of Tallahassee from 1826 to 1906, clerk-treasurers from 1826 to 1855, and postmasters from 1825 to 1935. The notebook also holds a compilation of death notices from the "Floridian" and "True Democrat," and wedding announcements from the "Floridian."

William George Dodd was born in Waynesville, Ohio in 1874. He received his M.A. and Ph. D from Harvard University. He moved to Tallahassee, Florida in 1910 to teach English literature at the Florida State College for Women.
